Google Reader expires on July 1st, which means if you use it to collate and read RSS feeds, it’s time to settle on an alternative. The CBC recently ran a comparison of their top choices: Feedly, NewsBlur, The Old Reader, AOL Reader and Digg Reader.
Among my friends and the tech blogs I’ve been reading, Feedly seems to be the clear front-runner. If you’re not familiar with it yet, don’t panic. Amit Agarwal (@labnol) has a helpful article on Digital Inspiration which can walk you through transfer and minor customization. (I’m no tech guru, but he is and if you’d like regular updates on blog-related technology, I recommend signing up for his newsletter.)
I’m going to see if I can customize my blog’s buttons to reflect the new choices and keep it all looking purty.
In the meantime, if you’d like to subscribe to Tartitude through RSS reader, or simply keep your old subscription going, click the button below and look for the green button at the top labelled “+add to my feedly.”
If you’re getting delivery through email or WordPress, no need to change a thing.
I’ve flipped everything into bloglovin -and its cleaner to read – you can add other readers in there as well – and it will import your google reader stuff … with the options to make lists and customize your views – it’s a good one.
Hmmm. That is an interesting one. It almost looks more like Tumblr in design.
Does it have share buttons built in, or compatibility with Evernote? How about a mobile app? (Thanks for info. I’m not seeing this information on their website and I don’t want to sign up for yet another thing.)
I’m gving the new Diggs reader a try, but confess I have no experience with any of them overall. The current buzz is providing the right info for me to get my feet wet. I’m a dinosaur, I guess. 😀

Jan, bloglovin does have share buttons built in. These both looks like decent systems, depends on how you use them, and which offers the features what you want for how you do your reading/commenting.
Looking at your blog post title, I see we were psychic twins, except your post is ever so much more detailed. (Go you. I’m simply not that tech savvy.) I need to learn how to add the Google circles, Beverly. Thanks for the inspiration.
