This month, because I loved the book, I’m giving away TWO copies of Helen Hoang’s The Bride Test. (Open to international readers.)
Set partly in Vietnam and partly in California, it features a mother’s matchmaking efforts to find her son a suitable bride. Her prayers seem to be answered when she stumbles across Esme Tran, a mixed-race woman living in the slums of Ho Chi Minh City.
There are only a few obstacles to her plan.
Esme is a single mother and horrifically ashamed of her lower class status. And Khai Diep has no desire for a wife, much less a child. After all, he is on the autism spectrum and incapable of emotion, which would make him a lousy partner and father.
Hoang’s world is one of close relationships and underlying sweetness. (I’m not referring to the sensuality here; there are onscreen sex scenes and some cursing throughout the novel.) Rather, most of the obstacles to the romance come from internal conflict, so we get to enjoy two nice people finding their way to one another without being distracted by villains or true antagonists. And their ethnicity adds a unique flavor to a matchmaker romance, which happens to be one of my favorite tropes.

Please enter me thank you.
Hi. I would like a chance to win a copie.
Thanks for the chance to win a copy.
I’d love to win this!
Ahhh! I’ve been interested in this sequel since it came out! I was afraid it wouldn’t live up to TKQ but I’m happy you think it did ❤️
It isn’t as overtly sensual as the first one, Alicia, but that’s as to be expected for the storyline, and in no way detracts from the book, IMHO.
Thanks for entering and good luck. 🙂
Helen Hoang writes with an authentic, believable voice. Her characters are real. The sensual scenes are engaging, fitting with the story, and just hot enough. Her books are exquisite.
I’d love to win a copy of “The Bride Test.” Thanks for the chance.
.this book sounds absolutely awesome and so sweet. I’d love to read it. Anytime an author incorporates someone who is on the Autism spectrum into a romance book I am going to absolutely LOVE it. This already sounds amazing
Hi! Would really like a copy of this book! I absolutely loved the kiss quotient so. Thank u for the chance
I just finished Kiss Quotient — I couldn’t put it down. Almost bought this at Target today — but didn’t! I have two children on the spectrum so her stories are especially meaningful.
The Bride Test has a similar sweetness, Michele. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Ooh – exciting! I keep coming across The Bride Test and The Kiss Quotient and I’ve been itching to add this author to my waiting-to-be-read pile. Since Marty and I are retired now, I’ve mostly been picking up used books. Please count me in for your contest! (And let me know when you have any new books in paperback – I’ll always have room in my budget and on my bookshelves for those!)
I will let you know, Becke. Thank you so much. It has been a crazy summer but my romantic suspense will be coming out in paperback in six weeks or so.
